Rachel was born in Muncie to Buford and Bertha Clark . She graduated in 1952 from Muncie Central High School. She married Joseph Wilmore Johnson on April 26th, 1953. She worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau Co-op and then for Marhoefer Packing until they closed. Then, a secretary at Ball State University. She was also a loving mother and grandmother and loved music, which she played the organ and accordion. She had a loving heart and welcomed everyone with open arms.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; two brothers, James and Wayne; a sister, Velda; a grandson, Tyrel; and son-in-law, Barney.
She is survived by a sister, Shirlene Emrick; daughters, Twyla Driscoll(husband, Rick), Rita Barnhouse, Tammy Johnson(husband, Jeff); grandchildren, Joseph, Leslie, Kenneth, Brian, Kelsey, and Jon; 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor her life will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
