Ralph Kroehler

Ralph Senf Kroehler, 92, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on Thursday, March 6, 1930, the son of the late Rev. Henry and Laura (Senf) Kroehler. He married the love of his life, Marjorie (Engel) Kroehler on August 20, 1952 and they shared sixty-nine beautiful years together. Ralph grew up in Homewood, Illinois, Hebron, North Dakota, and Hermann, Missouri. Following high school, he attended Elmhurst College where he met his wife, then enlisted in the Army where he served in the medical company of the 196th Infantry Regiment of the 196th Combat Team. Following the army he went to work for the Boy Scouts of America. His last position was CEO/Scout Executive for the W.D. Boyce Council, he retired in 1995 after a thirty-nine year career. Following retirement he worked part time as a fundraising consultant for non-profit organizations. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, researching and writing books on his family genealogy. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife and daughter. Ralph is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Engel) Kroehler; daughter, Beth Kroehler; sister, Sharon Shevelson; nephews, Todd, Michael, Scott, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Henry and Laura (Senf) Kroehler; brother-in-law, Ned Shevelson. Friends and family may call Monday, April 11, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Services will be held Monday, April 11, 2022, at 12 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery, 1400 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47305.
