Rex built a life grounded in commitment and integrity. He retired from his job at Indiana Steel and Wire after over 30 years of service, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and the respect he showed to everyone he encountered.
His faith was the foundation of his life. As a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church, he served joyfully through music, playing guitar during services and special gatherings. His music was an offering—simple, heartfelt, and filled with the sincerity of his devotion. He also found daily comfort and strength in reading his Bible, a practice that shaped his character and guided his steps.
Rex is survived by his wife, Dixie Hammond; children, Todd, Jeff, and Scott; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather Friday, June 5, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor his life will follow at 1:00 PM at Elm Ridge.
