Richard was born in Moonsville, Indiana, on March 16, 1950, to Wilbur and Wilmagene (Widner) Beeman. He was a proud veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his strength, courage, and devotion to others—qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
He never knew a stranger. With his warm personality, easy smile, and genuine kindness, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He spent many years as a bus driver for Yorktown and Wes-Del schools, a job he truly loved because of the children he met along the way. He cared deeply for the kids and took great pride in being a familiar and trusted face in their lives.
He also loved the freedom of the open road. Some of his happiest memories were made riding his motorcycle out West with his wife, Connie, taking in the scenery, enjoying the journey, and making memories together.
Above all else, family was everything to him. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones, and his greatest joy was simply being surrounded by the people he loved. His family will forever remember his laughter, his kindness, his stories, and the love he so freely gave.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, laughter, and, most importantly, love. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the lives he touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of over 54 years, Connie; children, Chadwick (Charo), Brian (significant other, Jennifer), and Richard II; his grandchildren, Tyler, Gus, Matt, and Gabby; his siblings, Michael, Patrick, Sharon, Gary, Nancy, and Lisa Ann; and his furry companion, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Wilmagene.
Family and friends may gather Monday, August 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor his life will begin at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
