

He was born Wednesday, August 7, 1935, in Muncie, the son of Lafe and Mary (Funkhouser) Swift. Dick graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. He worked as a Maintenance Manager for Ehinger for several years. Dick was a member of the Meeker Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing golf, going fishing, and he loved woodcarving. Dick was a handyman and could fix most anything. He liked to joke and his favorite quip, if you asked him how he was, he would always reply, “I’m worse”.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (West) Swift; three sons, Richard “Rick” (wife, Cathy) Swift Jr, Randy (wife, Andrea) Swift, and Ron (wife, Regina) Swift; sister, Cherrill (husband, Elbert) Hedges; sixteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Julie Werling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lafe and Mary Swift; daughter, Pamela Moistner; a brother, Dan Swift; and a grandchild.
Per his wishes, cremation arrangements have been made. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Meeker Avenue Church of Christ, 3109 South Meeker Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47302.
Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.
