Suzanne Caroline Pumphrey

Suzie was born April 23, 1949 to Dan and Jean Menefee in Bloomington, Indiana. She graduated from Muncie Central in 1967. Suzie married Charles “Chuck” Pumphrey in 1980 and they raised their family in Yorktown, Indiana. Suzie worked for the State of Indiana for 30 years. All who knew Suzie knew she had an unconditional love for all animals as she was known to save many homeless animals and always viewed her pets as family members.

Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Jean Menefee and brother, Joe Menefee.

Suzie is survived by her husband, Chuck Pumphrey; her children David Pumphrey (Kellie), David Hogan (Shelly), Jonathon Hogan (Michelle), Kate Quintero (Ben), and Jonathan Pumphrey (Margee); grandchildren Lydia Boyd (John), Lauren Pumphrey, Brittany Kaaihue, (Damion), Boston Chauthani, Austin Hogan (Macy), Allie Hogan, Audra Hogan, Jackson Pumphrey, Tessa Hogan, and Luke Pumphrey; and one great-grandchild, Forest Boyd. Also surviving are her two beloved cousins Beth Hobbs and Jane Burcham and her nieces Rachel and Adriana Menefee.

The family would like to thank her lifelong friends for their daily help and caring for Suzie in her final days, Susie Fishback and Kim Burns.

At Suzie’s request, there will not be any formal services. A Celebration of Life for Suzie will be held on February 17, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at The Muncie Elks Country Club, 909 CR 500 West Road, Muncie IN, 47304.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family asks friends and family to honor Suzie’s memory and her love for animals by making a monetary or supply donation to The Muncie Animal Rescue Fund (ARF). Donations can be made in person or by using this link https://www.munciearf.com/donate-arf.
