Toya Hicks

She was born Sunday, September 6, 1970, to Donald Allen Hicks and Johnetta Bilbrey Platt. Although she was raised in Muncie, Toya split her time between Muncie and Dade City, Florida, and loved being on the beach. She was the proud mother of three children, Christopher, Johnson, and Leslie, and a grandmother to Mia Lynn.

She was a Christian believer, and much of her time was spent laughing with family. She was a loving caregiver who gave of her time and talents to those friends and family who needed healing. Toya enjoyed cooking and putting that talent to work in restaurants. She loved daisies and butterflies. She also loved music, going to concerts, collecting jewelry, and getting tattoos. She loved to spend time with her dad by going to Nascar races with him.

Toya is survived by a daughter, Leslie Frye (S.O. Eric Manriquez) of Dade City, Florida; a brother, Donald Mattingly; sisters, Lori Malston (husband, Don Jr), and Toni Platt; a granddaughter, Mia Lynn Manriquez; nieces and nephews, (Donnie) Zoe; (Lori) Savannah, Haylee, and Max; (Toni) Ava, Zachary and Jacari; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends throughout Muncie and Dade City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Johnetta; and two sons, Christopher Allen Frye and Johnson Frye Jr.

Visitation will be Monday, February 15th, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required as well as social distancing.

Cremation will take place. Elm Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
