Valerie Jean Berry

Valerie Jean Berry (72), Valerie beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Reached ultimate fulfilment and a state of supreme, definitive happiness by entering her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021.

She was born May 12, 1949 in Santa Monica, California to the late Edward Phillips and Virginia Lee Gronowski. She later moved to Henderson, Nevada where she worked for Kerr McGee for 15 years before retiring in 2001. In recent years, Valerie moved to Alexandria, Indiana to be close to her son.

Valerie loved her family. Dining out in nice restaurants, cooking family meals, and playing cards. One of her favorite passions was her horses. For over 20 years, she raised quarter horses to race in California and Utah.

Valerie was a member of the Las Vegas Secular Community of Discalced Carmelites, an order of friars, nuns and seculars, since 2005.

Valerie will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.

Valerie is survived by the love of her life, husband Richard Berry of Alexandria; two children: Ronald “Scott” Potter (Cindy) of Muncie and Lisa Marie Potter of Muncie; Cathy Berry Alderks (Gary) of Henderson, Nevada; Steve Berry of Henderson, Nevada; a sister: Sharon Frazier; grandchildren: Christopher Potter, David Jay Potter, Kimberly Cook, Sarah Berry, and Brad Berry; greatgrandchildren: Giovanni Potter, Adriana Potter, Elizabeth Rose Potter, Kayla Cook, Haylee Martinez, and Sierra Whalen; and her two dogs: Dolly and Gracie.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2021, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
