and Ada Rector. Wanda grew up in a single family home. Her mother accepted the offer of a
Bible study to which Wanda and her sister Eloise were attentive. The three of them made their
dedication to Jehovah God and were baptized on June 15, 1941.
Wanda graduated from Muncie Central. She knew a fellow student, Ed Bird. They became
acquainted after graduation and married on February 8, 1948. They worked well as a team,
raising four children in the Christian way of life. A favorite scripture was John 4 "No greater joy do
I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth."
Hallmark traits were regular family field ministry and hospitality. Wanda enjoyed teaching
others about the Bible, and had opportunity to share in the ministry in the Netherlands, Poland,
and the Dominican Republic.
To the end of her life, she wholeheartedly agreed with Jesus words, "Keep on then, seeking
first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to
you." (Matthew 6:33)
Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses,
4405 N. Walnut St. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3 pm. Gary Smith officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
