Carl Agner Anderson

Carl was born on June 27, 1941, in Moorhead, Minnesota, and was raised by his beloved mother. He later joined the United States Army and moved to the Fort Campbell area in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where he met the love of his life, Dean.

Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and devotion. They shared 61 years of marriage, raising a house full of children, just three years after their youngest son was born, they welcomed the first of many grandchildren into their lives. Carl’s unwavering love and deep respect for Dean was the foundation that helped build their family to what it is today.

When the weather permitted, Carl could often be found sitting on the porch with Dean, sharing a cup of coffee, working in the yard or hanging another wind chime. Weekends were often spent at the flea market, where Carl loved spending time with Dean while selling knick-knacks, lamps, and home décor, while making connections with all those who crossed their path.

Carl was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dean, their sons Jerry Anderson of Christiana, Tennessee, and Keith Anderson; and most recently, his daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Anderson of Manchester, Tennessee.

He is survived by eight loving children: Pat Papka of Slocomb, AL, Ray Manire of Hopkinsville, KY, Niles Anderson (Beverly) of Dawson Spring, KY, Rick Anderson (Linda) of Manchester, Jim Anderson (Libby) of Dickson, TN, Tony Anderson (Jackie) of McMinnville, TN, Randy Anderson (Dottie) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Matthew Anderson (Kathy) of Rockvale, TN.

He is lovingly remembered by 24 grandchildren: Balinda (George), Josh, Carla, Harley, Al, Jennifer, Misty, Michael, Jason, Tika (Jason), Jessica, Carletta, Pam (Jimmy), Jim Jr. (Heather), Randy Jr., Heather (Michael), John (Autumn), Shane (Lindsey), Kristina (Stanton), Kayla, Jacob (Jess), Kacey, and Shelby (Tori); 44 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Carl was a quiet soul who found joy in the simple things in life. During his earlier years as a semi-truck driver, he would often return home and spend quality time tinkering on cars or riding motorcycles with his sons. During his later years, he loved riding his horse, Lady, around Short Mountain and spending time with his treasured dog, Ubu. Recently he enjoyed playing with his train collection, rebuilding old radios, or playing one of his restored instruments.

Carl will be remembered for his quiet nature, his love of tinkering and the outdoors, and most of all, his deep devotion to wife Dean and the family they built together. His presence, his steady love, and the memories made throughout his life will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129, on August 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
