Charles L. Huggins, MSgt Retired United States Air Force, age 89, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Saturday evening, August 10, 2019 at Alive Hospice. Mr. Huggins was born in Lafayette, Georgia and was the son of the late Cecil Franklin Huggins and the late Vera Smith Huggins and his father's second wife, the mother who raised him, Delta Page Huggins . He is survived by his wife, Myra Huggins; sons, Kent Huggins and his wife Rachel, Wayne Huggins and his wife Vickie and Mark Huggins and his wife Jami; sisters, Katherine McClure and Glenda Davis; brothers, Jerry Huggins and his wife Carolyn and Joel Huggins; grandchildren, Ryan Huggins and his wife Amanda, Melissa Hinson and her husband TJ, Todd Huggins and his wife Renee, Chad Huggins and his wife Dana, Chris Reed, Kelly Smith and her husband Jeremy and Kyle Huggins; and 15 great grandchildren; and was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jessica Huggins Riddick; sisters, Orene Bowman, Wilma Neal and Deauana Fitzpatrick; and brothers, Troy Huggins and Sonny Huggins. Services to celebrate Mr. Huggins will be at Three O’clock the afternoon of Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Teresa Johnson officiating. Placement with military honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Huggins was a longtime member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church. He served his country first in the United States Marine Corps and then in the United States Air Force, from which he retired as the former Sewart Air Force Base closed in 1971. He was a skilled aircraft mechanic and worked on many various types of military aircraft. He kept the aircraft used by Bob Hope on his many USO Tours in great working condition. Pallbearers will be Ryan Huggins, TJ Hinson, Todd Huggins, Chad Huggins, Chris Reed and Kyle Huggins.
