Doris Frances Delbridge Cox, age 72, was born in Murfreesboro, TN on June 2, 1948. She passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Quiller Richard and Sarah Frances McPeak Delbridge, her husband, Frank Houston Cox Sr. and their only son, Frank H. Cox Jr., of Murfreesboro, TN.
She is survived by her brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Dan and Shirley Cox of Fostoria, KS; Roger and Diane Cox of Murfreesboro; Dee (Bill) Cox of Shelbyville; Mark and Judy Cox of Shelbyville; Wallace (Alice Cox) Montgomery of Valdosta, GA and many loving nieces and nephews.
Doris was a native of Rutherford County, Murfreesboro and met her husband Frank while a student at Central High School in 1964 and they were married in 1967 after graduation. Her husband joined the U.S. Army and they lived on several military bases while he was on active duty status in Germany, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and Ft. Campbell, KY. She was a teacher’s aide for several years at Murfreesboro and Clarksville Elementary Schools.
Doris enjoyed traveling with her family, flower gardens, bird watching especially her favorite hummingbirds, reading and was a loving wife and mother. She attended Bellwood Baptist Church and later attended the World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
A family gravesite burial service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, TN with Chaplain Milton Stanley, Avalon Hospice, officiating the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home.
