Houston Benjamin Abbott, age 21, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Houston is survived by his parents Harry and Chanel Posey Abbott; twin brother, Hamilton Abbott; sisters, Portland and Blythe Abbott; brother, Cannon Abbott; and a host of other relatives. Services to celebrate Houston will be at Three O’clock the afternoon of Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Roselawn Funeral Home with placement to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Houston didn’t let anything slow him down or keep him from doing things he loved. You could often find him listening to his emergency scanner and then give up dates about what was happening or watching his favorite TV shows, COPS, Live PD and Family Feud. He also loved Country Music and one of his favorite artists was Tracy Lawrence, who once signed his cowboy hat. He especially loved to drink dark colored soft drinks and it didn’t matter to him if they tasted good or not, he was going to drink it. His biggest thrill though was to watch and root for the Clemson Tigers Football Team with his dad. They spent many a Saturday afternoon or evening cheering on the Tigers. Please leave any thoughts or memories here on his page to be included in his “Life Remembered Book.” Memorials may be made to The Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals. Friends are cordially invited to visitation Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2019 from One O’clock until the service begins at Three O’clock at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129, 615-893-2742.

Houston Abbott was one of my former students. He was always sweet and kind to everyone. I didn't know that he had passed away until another former student told me today. I pray for his family and close friends as it is not easy to lose someone close to you. My heart goes out to them. Houston always made me smile. He had a great sense of humor. He had love for everyone. I will miss him and his contagious spirit. Much Love and Prayers!-Ms. Smith

Sweet Abbott Family,
I am so incredibly sorry for the loss and pain you feel at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

I loved getting to meet and spend time with Houston while serving my mission in the Rock Springs Ward (it feels like ages ago!!). I instantly felt a love for Houston because he reminded me so much of my nephew and always had a smile on his face.

It always killed me how Houston would flirt with the missionaries constantly, but he always got away with it because of his smile! His Spirit was so strong and he could always make us laugh!!

Houston, I’m grateful to have had a glimmer of light from you in my own life, you have no idea how much you have impacted the lives of those around you! Even though you will be dearly missed by so many, I bet you are loving being able to run!! Thank you for sharing your light and love with the world, it is a dimmer place without you.

Much love,
Bailee (Blake) Jones

I went to SCHS with Houston. He was one of a kind for sure. We had science class together and everyday he came through the door, he wheeled as fast as he could to me. He was my little buddy! I remember him telling me he was in pain one day and continued to smile and be the happiest person ever!!! We use to FaceTime all the time! There was never a dull moment. We always laughed because he would drop his phone so much! He wanted me to meet his mom and dad on FaceTime but we couldn’t help but laugh! He had some type of pet that he would always show me that he loved so much! He will definitely be missed. ❤️❤️ Such a kind soul.

I was in high school with Houston. He was always surrounded by his friends. You never saw him alone. He always made us laugh. He was also easy going and kind hearted. He always made me feel good ! I know wherever he is , he is watching over us and laughing ! Rest in peace, old friend, I'll miss your laugh.

My name is Gennita but houston knew me as Gigi i was one of the supervisor at embassy suite when Houston was there. Houston was the most hard work young man i ever seen come through there with internship he never had no disability in my eyes, he was able to do things other workers could ever do. Everyday he seen me houston always spoke to me with a smile. He always came up to me and gave me a hug and ask me was i okay. Houston went out his way to help others in needed,he use to come into the laundry room just to check on me sometimes or just to give me a hug to let me know he was thinking bout me. Houston was one of many other that brighting my day everytime i seen him and inspired me to work in the field that I'm working in right now and thats taking care of disabled patients. Houston will be missed in so many ways but he will never be forgetting in my eyes nor my heart. Love u houston and i will see u soon one day and then we make up for old times and talk bout the CSI episodes.
