James Andrew "Andy" Russell, age 42, passed away in his sleep at his home of natural causes from a short illness on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Glenda Yearwood Jones and her husband, Thomas Jones: father, James "Jim" E. Russell; daughter and the apple of his eye, Charlee Russell; sister, Melissa Russell; niece, Emerson Russell; nephews, Easton Rhoad and Edwin Russell. Uncles Brian (Brenda) Russell, Jim Yearwood; aunts Sharon Yearwood, Debbie (Don) Young and many cousins who all loved him dearly.
Andy was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Aileen Russell and James and Mary Yearwood.
Andy was a lifelong resident of Smyrna and graduated from Smyrna High School in 1998. He owned his own barbeque restaurant, The Lazy Pig, in Lavergne for 7 years. He most recently worked for the Town of Smyrna Parks and Recreation Department for a little more than 7 years. His real enjoyment came from serving on the Board of Directors for the Smyrna Girl's Fastpitch Softball League. He loved coaching his Charlee and his niece Emmy and all the other girls over the years and working to make the League even better for the future. He was an avid fan of the Tennessee Titans and the Vanderbilt Commodores and named his girls softball team the "Lady Commodores".
Andy's many, many friends will sorely miss his fun loving friendship, and his sage advice. If you knew Andy, you will understand the pain we all have from losing him so young to what we believe was a heart attack.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the Smyrna Girls Fastpitch Softball League, P.O.Box 157, Smyrna, TN. 37167
A Celebration of Andy's Life will be Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 from Four O'Clock until Eight O'Clock at Roselawn Funeral Home.
