James “Dennis “Tipton, age 67, of Murfreesboro passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Smyrna. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Doris of Murfreesboro; nine children : Dana Tipton-Cavalcante of Miami Beach, Jeremy Tipton of Tampa, Rachel Cunningham of Charlotte, Brandon Tipton of Frederick, Tamara Melhorn of Frederick, Derek Tipton of Lutz, Devin Tipton of AltamonteSprings, Lewis Harry of Wethersfield, Alexander Harry of South Wick;six siblings Kenneth Tipton of Titusville, Dan Tipton of New Port Richey, Linda Marks of Tampa, Landon Tipton of St. Augustine,John Tipton of Green Springs, Charlotte Johnson of Spring Hill; three grandchildren; Ethan, Adelyn and Finley and all of his nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Twelve O’clock Noon at Roselawn Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. Dennis lived in Florida most of his life and graduated from Gulf High School. After working for Publix Grocery in management, he started his own interior design business. In 2004, he moved to Franklin, TN and settled down in Almaville with his wife Doris. He loved traveling to visit his children and grandchildren in FL, MD and NC and his extended family in New England. He and his wife also loved entertaining visitors and taking them to Nashville, the Jack Daniels Distillery and Stones River National Battlefield. Dennis served in the military during the Vietnam War from December 1968-January 1973 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC as a Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to the Marine Corp. He was an avid golfer and also loved to watch his favorite college team play football, baseball and basketball-Go Gators! His favorite player was Tim Tebow. He also enjoyed working in his yard, keeping the grass green and planting beautiful blooming flowers. Dennis attended church regularly with his wife as greeters at Franklin Christian Church.
