

Athalea Joan Fields, 88 y/o, passed on August 12, 2024. Joan was born on July 7, 1936 to Arwin Rex and Laura Higginbotham-Stover in Johnston City, IL.. Joan and her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1953, where she met her husband General Park Fields. General and Joan married on April 29, 1953. In 1969 they uprooted their family of seven and moved to Tennessee, where they owned and operated Four Corners Marina. Eventually Joan and General retired, traveling the U.S. for five years, resettling in Tennessee and eventually relocating to Florida for the remainder of their life. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Arwin and Laura Stover, her husband General Park Fields, one brother William Arwin Stover, three sons, Clift Fields, Jeff Fields, Brian Fields, and son in law William Kelton Carey. Joan is survived by her sister Karen Matiya, daughters Debra Carey, Kim (Joe) Braden, daughter in-law Janice Fields, as well as Eight grandchildren, Crystal (Brian) Barrett, Tonya (Grant) Irwin, Jeffrey (Maggie) Fields, Curtis Fields, Karie (Dustin)Cox, Ashlea (Brian) Woody, Kristopher Carey, James Burlison, Joshua Burlison, and Lilly Braden; 13 Great grandchildren Taylor Dady, Bryce Dady, Brycen Irwin, Justin Fields, Gabby Cox, Presley Cox, Hunter (Rachel)Barrett, Megan(Austin) Taylor, Caleb Fields, Lance Fields, Sadie Fields, Brody Woody, Riley Woody and Ava Garcia; and three great great grandchildren, Colsen Barrett, Alaina Taylor, and Anthony Taylor. Joan was faithful in her belief in the Lord. Joan loved family, friends and life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday August 18 from 10:00 A.M -12:00 P.M. followed by her celebration of her life at Roselawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
