He was the son of the late Joe Hubert Boner and Mildred Irene Jones Boner, and is preceded in Death by his brother Ronnie Boner. He is survived by his wife, Sarah J. Boner; step daughters, Jenny (Jeffery) Denney and Lisa (Gregory) Messner; Brothers, Bill (Joyce) Boner, Harry (Shirley) Boner, and Jasper Boner; Sisters, Katherine (Randall) Feinstein, Polly (Andrew) McKenzie; sons, Anthony “Tony” (Melissa “Missy”) Boner, Joe Rogers (Dawn) Boner, Jr. and Michael J. “Joey” Cunningham; daughters, Cynthia “Beth” (Bobby) Melton, Melissa Boner and Amy Michelle Boner-Smith.
17 Step Grandchildren, 9 Grand Children, 7 Great Grand Children, and 1 Great -Great Grandson Alex.
Joe and Sarah ran B & B Disposal and Joe was a member of the Smyrna Rescue Squad and Smyrna Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former Figure 8 Dirt Track racer who competed with many of his friends at the Figure 8 Dirt Racetrack, formerly owned by John Waldron, in Smyrna where the Nissan Plant currently sits, as well as the Nashville Speedway.
Joe will be loved and remembered by many for years to come. Joe never met a stranger. To him a stranger was just a friend he had yet to meet.
A very special thank you to his brother Bill Boner and his wife Joyce. Bill never left his side during his last days. His two best friends are his cousin Alvin Jones and William “Beano” York were always on call and there for Joe. His grandsons Matthew and Michael Williams were also instrumental to the daily care of Joe during his last days. We very sincerely and deeply thank them for showing Joe so much love when he needed it the most.
Pallbearers will be: Matthew Williams, Michael Williams, Christopher Jones, James Bounds, Justin Bounds, Tyler Bounds, Taylor Coleman, and Tony Campbell.
Visitation and Services to celebrate Mr. Boner will be at Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at 3:00 p.m. the afternoon of Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Roselawn Funeral Home with burial also at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
