Lois M. Hurt, age 93, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away at her home on the morning of Friday, October 9, 2026. Born July 9, 1933, Lois was the daughter of the late Harold and Luanna Weitkamp Walker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bennett Austin “Ben” Hurt, Sr., in 2018, as well as a sister, Viola, and a brother, Jerry.
Lois will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence—devoted in the ways that mattered most, faithful in spirit, and gentle in heart. Her kindness was steady and unassuming, expressed through thoughtful care, patient listening, and a selfless readiness to put others at ease. Wise and loving, she carried herself with quiet strength, offering guidance that inspired confidence and comfort to those who sought it.
A Godly woman, Lois was known as a “Prayer Warrior,” and her faith shaped the way she lived and loved. She attended Family Worship Center until her health made it difficult to attend regularly. As a military wife, she bore the weight of long deployments with courage and constancy, often serving as a single parent during those times. She met life with practical resolve—teaching her children to drive, solving problems as they arose, and becoming the true matriarch of her family. In moments of uncertainty, her family came to her for advice and guidance, trusting her steady judgment and compassionate counsel.
A graveside service to celebrate Lois will be held at Eleven o’clock on the morning of Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with Clint Hurt officiating. Following the graveside service, the family will return to the funeral for a time of fellowship for those able to attend.
Lois is survived by her son, Bennett A. Hurt, Jr. and his wife Jenny; her daughter, Debra Williams and her husband Phillip; her brothers, Ronnie, Harold, Grant and Benjamin Walker; as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Lois leaves a legacy of steadfast love, faithful devotion, and gentle strength—one that will continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
