Martha Battles Dooley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martha Battles Dooley, on Monday, May 25, 2026 at The Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mrs. Dooley was born in Gallant, Alabama to the late Oscar and Odell Jones Battles. She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Jerry Dooley; daughter, Terri Dooley Sullivan; son, Glenn Dooley; grandchildren, Jason Dooley and his wife Trish and Ashley Hobbs; great grandson, Chance Dooley. Martha was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Fender and Bettye Hanvey.

Martha was a devoted wife and mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother and a loyal friend. She loved children and they loved her back. She was the neighborhood Nana. She was a talented painter, pianist, and water skier. She had her own style and loved wearing hats and flashy costume jewelry.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Dooley will be at Twelve noon on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Roselawn Funeral Home with private burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are cordially invited to visitation also on Monday, June 1, 2026, from Ten O’clock in the morning until the service begins at Twelve noon. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mrs. Dooley.
