Mary Dianne Britt, age 70, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee from complications of cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James Richard Britt; her parents, Claude Eugene Potts and Mary Ellen Baty Potts Howell; three brothers-in-law of Tennessee and one sister-in-law of Alabama.
Dianne is survived by her son, James Richard Britt, Jr and his wife Pam of Ashland, Alabama; daughter, Lisa Ellen Kermick and her husband Gerry of Barfield, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Neal and husband Jack, Ellen Dean Kermick, Maegan Nicole Smith and Matthew Blake Kermick and wife Ashley; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Dolcie Dodd, Carolyn Vaughn, Geraldine Pewitt Young and husband Tommy and Vickie Bain and husband Wayne; brother, Buddy Potts and wife Jan; nine nephews and one niece.
Dianne was a graduate of Central High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Dianne loved to crochet and give to family and friends, Doctors and Nurses the items she had made. It was her joy to give! Those who knew Dianne, loved her unique humor, her quick smile and a simple “I Love You.”
Dianne lived in Ashland, Alabama with her husband Richard, for 42 years. They trapped for fur, fished, enjoyed boating and camping and making friends from all over the world during their “Pow Wow” gatherings.
The family asks you to hug a loved one and let them know how much you care about them and cherish the time you have with them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institution, your local food bank or a charity of your choice.
A service to celebrate Dianne will be held on Tuesday evening, September 22, 2026, at Six O’clock at Roselawn Funeral Home with visitation the same day from Four O’clock till the service begins at Six O’clock. Services will be conducted by Shane Merritt, minister of Rocksprings Church of Christ, Smyrna Tennessee.
