

Michael Joseph Upchurch (Mike), 61, returned to his heavenly home on Friday May 19th, 2017. His devotion to God and his family gave him peace. Mike was born to Joseph Ray Upchurch and Nora Jean (Knight) Upchurch in Fayetteville, North Carolina on January 14th, 1956 He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Rivera) Upchurch; Daughter Paola Jean (Upchurch) Berry spouse Cody Wade Berry; Daughter Morgan Elizabeth Upchurch; Grandson Luke Wade Berry; Mother Nora Jean (Knight) Upchurch; Brother Marc Anthony Upchurch his daughter Stephanie Michelle (Upchurch) Hopkins and son Anthony Joseph Upchurch spouse Teressa Loftis Upchurch; Sister Mitzi Sherree (Upchurch) Yocum her daughter Jenny Mae Yocum-Richards and son Kellous William Yocum. Mike was born to Joseph Ray Upchurch and Nora Jean (Knight) Upchurch in Fayetteville, North Carolina on January 14th, 1956. He graduated from Putnam County High School in 1974. Mike gained a remarkable aptitude for art at a young age. He was an exceptional athlete who received most valuable player in many sports including baseball, basketball, and football. He continued his knack for sports by playing golf in adulthood. In his spare time he took pleasure in reading, music, and refinishing furniture. Mike was preceded in death by his father in 1985 and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. It was important for him to help his father through his illness. He then became a certified Medical Lab Technician. His career led him to meet his wife Elizabeth (Rivera) Upchurch and they married on June 30th 1990. Together they had two girls Paola Jean (Upchurch) Berry and Morgan Elizabeth Upchurch. He enjoyed his time with his grandson Luke Wade Berry. Services to celebrate Michaels life will be on Sunday May 21,2017 at Two o’clock at Roselawn Funeral Home in Murfreeboro. The burial will take place on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at One o’clock at Middle Tennesse Veterans Pegram Cemetery 7931 McCory Lane Nashville,TN 37221. Mike was an affectionate husband, father, and his mother’s pride and joy. Many admired and cherished him. His favorite verse Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me by the still waters. He restoreth my soul:he leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
