Nicholas Scott Williams, fondly known as Nick, passed away in Portland, Maine, on December 9, 2025. Some people leave behind more than memories. They leave behind a thousand reminders of who they were, woven into the everyday lives of the people who loved them. Nick was certainly one of those people.
Nick shared genuine love and contagious laughter with everyone around him through his quirky personality and deep devotion to family and friends. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, like whipping up a new recipe in the kitchen, spending time in Maine’s great outdoors, jamming out on his guitar (or ukulele— accompanied by a fedora), and exploring new places. He was a profound animal lover, an amateur angler, and a video game aficionado. He also gave the world’s best hugs!
He was a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, and a friend. But his favorite title was “Uncle Nick.” Each of those roles meant something different, but he brought the same unforgettable authenticity to all of them. At his core, he was a genuinely good soul who saw the value in every person and cherished the connections he made throughout his life. Nick had a rare ability to recognize the good in others, embracing people for exactly who they were and making them feel seen simply by being themselves. Although Nick’s life ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined, his story does not end here. It continues in the people who loved him, the memories we share, and the ways we carry pieces of him throughout our lives.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Danielle Patton, and his sisters, Madeleine and Sydney Patton. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Ashton Williams; nieces, Sophia, Maci, and Hattie Williams; nephew, Waylon Williams; Gramma’, Sonia Johnson; Grampy and Grammy, Walter and Faith Duplessie; aunt and uncle, Tunnie (Renee) and Chris Burrows, and their daughters, Eliana, Gracie, and Annalise Burrows; aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Jeremy Nix, and their son, Evan Nix; cousin, Jacob Johnson; aunt and uncle, Diana and Keith Rondeau, and their daughters, Izzy and Abby Rondeau; aunt and uncle, Nicole and John Cressey, and their children Madelyn, Madison and Gavan; aunt and uncle, Renee and Brad Williams, and their daughters, Kelsey and Kendra Williams; and aunt, Rhonda Williams, and her children, Shana Bennet and Ethan McConnell. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends who held a special place in his heart.
Nick was also survived by his grandpa, Marc Johnson, who passed away on March 11, 2026, and his father, Ray Williams, who passed away on October 7, 2026. It brings us comfort to imagine Nick welcoming them both with open arms.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Scott and Nancy Williams.
Nick will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives made brighter by knowing him. In a thousand ways, Nick will always be with those who loved him.
