

CMSgt (Retired) Norman Francis Collinson, age 97, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Monday morning, September 16, 2024. He was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Rachel Ellen Leatherbury Collinson. He is survived by his wife, Frances E. Collinson; daughters, Patricia “Pat” Harvey and Donna Harris; grandchildren, Richard Dale Harvey and wife Kelley, Bryan Louis Harvey and wife Shannon, Elizabeth Ann Bardowski and husband Ed and Christopher Carney Harris and wife Katie; great grandchildren, Stephanie Grayson, Josh Harvey, Sarah Harvey, Peyton Harvey, Stella Harvey, Naomi Harvey, Logan Potts, Emma Potts and Abbi Harris; and 7 great great grandchildren. Mr. Collinson was the last of 10 siblings.
A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Collinson will be at Four O’clock the afternoon of Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Collinson proudly served his country in the US Air Force for over 26 years, both at home and abroad as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he began a second career at the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority serving in maintenance for 20 years. His family was his focus and loved when his family came to his home for gatherings. At some point, everyone would enjoy playing darts, cards or horseshoes, etc. He had numerous interest, including fishing, crossword puzzles and bird watching. One of his favorite pastimes was bowling, which he did in leagues in Smyrna and Murfreesboro. At home, he spent time gardening, whether that was his favorite flowers or raising vegetables.
