Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens after a graveside service officiated by Reverend Andy Stallings, a minister at Tullahoma First Baptist Church.
Raymond Dyer was born February 10, 1936 in Orono, Maine.
He was married to Wilhelmina Brent Yates for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina; his parents, Ida Mae Shorey and Nathan Edgar Dyer; four brothers, Edgar, Earl, Edward, and Kenneth; one sister, Dot; and stepsons, Harold and Steve Yates. He is survived by stepchildren: Carolyn Daingerfield Kephart; Dorothy Lannom Jones (Wayne); Harriet Troutt; David Yates (Esther); Scott Yates (Judy); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1962.
Raymond loved to work. He worked as an auto mechanic. Then he owned his own service station before starting an excavation company. The last 25 years of his working life (until age 76) he worked at the Wolfe Company, a sheet metal and fabrication company. When he wasn't working at his paying job, he was working for family members who needed help.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made for the children's playground at Tullahoma First Baptist Church.
