Sharon Kay Craft

August 20, the skies opened up and Jesus called my mom home…Sharon Kay Craft…we have been waiting for you 😇🪽 She was welcomed inside the gates of Heaven by the only man she ever loved, Jim Craft; her parents Russ Hamilton (Mary), Violet Lowes Kohlmeier (George); her brother Rodney Kohlmeier, Susie and Max (the best four legged friends you could ask for) and the remainder of all the Craft siblings and spouses (11 in total - mom was the last one). She leaves behind son Doug Craft (Dawn) of Oklahoma City, OK and daughter Debbie Haxton (Dave) of Auburntown, TN. Grandkids Casey Craft (Liz), Carrie Gogel (Matt), Krysta Ferry (Aaron), Izzy Craft and Seth Haxton. 10 Great grandkids Isiah, Abbie and Zach McDonald, Averie Gogel, Aiden, Maggie, Savannah, baby to be Ferry and Mia and Lane Craft, all of Murfreesboro. Numerous lifelong friends and nieces and nephews from Indiana, Ohio and Florida that she loved so much.

Mom was born in Dayton, Ky and grew up in Edinburg, Indiana where her step-father George owned the local Pharmacy and soda shop. If you ever spent any quality time with mom you heard of her days of working at the soda shop as a teenager and often spoke of serving the soldiers from Camp Atterbury and complained of serving the kids when the Teen Cantine let out, just after cleaning the soda fountain machine. She loved being a cheerleader and raising her family in Milan, IN until a job change moved them to Murfreesboro in 1977. It took two years before her and Debbie could visit Milan without crying when it was time to leave. She worked in the school cafeteria as the “ticket lady” while raising her kids so she could be off work when they were out of school. After the move to Tennessee, she worked for Singer Corp for a bit and retired as Office Manager from Americold.

Our matriarch taught us what it means to love your family, even when it’s hard; strength even when you’re tired; a little sass, even when you shouldn’t; how to play a fun round of cards, even if you lose; how to tear up the dance floor, even if everyone is watching, shared the most awesome smile you can still see when you close your eyes, how you should love Elvis just because your mom did and how to make the best macaroni and cheese (mom you would be proud, the girls almost have it mastered). Her grandkids and great-grandkids were her life.

She came back home to spend her final days surrounded by love. We couldn’t be more blessed that Krysta and Aaron were able and willing to make that happen. Though it happened much quicker than we were all expecting, her body was tired and we knew she was ready. It’s almost like she was waiting to come home to be with family, surrounded with love and feel safe.

Until we see you again mom, save us an Oreo and a glass of Milk. You are so cherished and will be missed every minute of every day. What an example you are to all your girls. We love you mom!

Services with be at Roselawn Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2026, with visitation from 1:00pm till 3:00pm when the services begin and burial will follow.
