

Thomas Stanley “Stan” Hovater, age 52, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Decatur, Al and was the son of Suzanne Awbrey Hovater and James Fred Hovater, Jr. Mr. Hovater is survived by his wife of 29 years, Melody Layne Hovater; daughter and her husband, Shelby and Andrew Hooper; sons, Hayden and Harrison Hovater all of Murfreesboro; mother, Suzanne Hovater; father, Fred Hovater; brothers, Howard Hovater of Homewood, AL and Wil Hovater of Gardendale, AL; and sister, Megan Hovater of Russellville, AL. Funeral services will be at One O’clock the afternoon of Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Trevor Atwood officiating. Placement will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Stan was a proud graduate of MTSU, where he played left field for the Blue Raider baseball team. Mr. Hovater was a Rural Mail Carrier with the Rockvale Post Office for twenty years. He followed University of Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals. Stan was a member of Belle Aire Baptist Church and currently attended City Church.
