

He was born in Pampa, Texas to Helen M. Gantt McKee and Robert McKee on November 18, 1938. When his parents divorced, Tom was raised by his grandmother, Mary Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Ann Scifres McKee, granddaughter, Elizabeth Tatum Barajas, son-in-law, Scott Waite, and brothers-in-law Karl Scifres and Ben Johanson.
He married the love of his life, Velma Ann Scifres on June 4, 1959 and shared 61 joy-filled years together. He is survived by six children: Thomas, Susan Waite, Shaun (Jenny), Daniel (Jenn), Zachary, and Tim (Brittany), 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Kay Johanson, Ramona (Lance) Behnke, and Kathy Scifres.
Tom spent almost 40 years as an engineer in the aerospace industry. His favorite activities included being out in nature, hiking, listening to music, spending time with family, watching movies, and reading. When his eyesight worsened, he turned to audiobooks. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an avid scholar of the scriptures.
Dad loved challenging his children and grandchildren with riddles. He also loved corny jokes and dad jokes. He had a soft spot for all animals and enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds in the backyard. He loved learning about almost everything through reading books and watching documentaries on television. His memory for the details from the books he read was amazing. He had a goal to read a book a week, and achieved that goal until his eyesight hindered him. We love you and will miss you immensely!
