Willis J Prout was born on December 11, 1940 in Vincennes, Indiana and entered the Gates of Heaven on June 12, 2021. He was born to Lowell J and Wilma Seed Prout, who precede him in death. When he passed, he was surrounded by his wife and children at his bedside. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1958. In 1961, he met the love of his life, Lucretia Newberry. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1963.
He worked at American Machine Foundry in Olney, Illinois for 25 years before moving his family to Smyrna, Tennessee. He then worked at Cumberland Swan in Smyrna, Tennessee for 18 years before retiring in 2004.
He was an avid fan of the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans and Chicago Cubs. He was never convinced to buy any other truck but a Ford. His most enjoyable times were spent with his family.
In Illinois, he attended First Assembly of God in Olney and he was a member of Family Worship Center in Murfreesboro for the past 34 years. He enjoyed ushering and he made many friends. He had a love for missions and had been able to go with church friends to Costa Rica and Honduras. His life long wish was to go to Alaska and that wish was fulfilled by taking a cruise there.
Mr. Prout is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucretia (Newberry) Prout of Smyrna, TN; children, Cheryl (Donnie) Butler of Pegram, TN, J Douglas Prout of Smyrna, TN and Sandra Amrine of Smyrna, TN; six grandsons, Jon Douglas (Brandy) Lee of Greenville, Ill, twins Jeremiah and Joshua Amrine (Deceased), Tyler Amrine currently serving in the USAF in Korea, Adam Butler of Pegram, TN and Brad Butler of Pegram, TN; six great grandchildren, twin granddaughters, Katerina and Ellen Lee of Clarksville, TN, Kallie Butler of Memphis, TN, Bree (Justin) Henderson-Rust of Florida and Lacy and Neal Dyce of Greenville, Ill.
Graveside services to celebrate Mr. Prout will be at 12:30pm Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Following the graveside service, friends are welcome to join the family at their home for a meal, 9016 Macbeth Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167. The family will have a private visitation prior to the graveside service at Roselawn Funeral Home. There will be a public Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Family will serve as pallbearers.
