

Asato Kaneshina was born in Maui, Hawaii on March 30, 1932. Asato’s young family life was filled with fond memories of helping his parents, Nagoso and Toyo Kaneshina with home duties and playing on sandy beaches in Hawaii. Asato graduated high school on June 6, 1951, shortly after graduating high school; Asato began his military life, proudly serving in the Army. Asato received his Bachelor’s degree in Education and taught Kindergarten to 8th grade students.
Asato liked to volunteer and give back to his community by donating his time to San Luis Rey Mission from 1990 to 1999. After Asato’s retirement, he returned to work at Legoland taking pride in gardening the San Francisco area. Asato was a very caring and loving man he dedicated many hours of his time to help others.
Asato is survived by his loving wife, Maria R Kaneshina, his daughter Judith Kaneshina, two sons, Jaime and Joshua Kaneshina, two stepdaughters, Caroline Rendon and Olivia Fay and his stepson, Mario Chavira.
Asato Kaneshina passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Asato’s memory will live on in the hearts that were fortunate to know him.
