Daniel Hernandez passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2023 after a hard fought four year battle with Cancer, surrounded by his friends and loved ones.
Daniel was predeceased by his father, Enrique Hernandez and is survived by his mother, Rosina Hernandez, his older brother Henry and his wife Martha, his younger brother David, his wife Judy and their children Ezekiel & Everly, and his youngest brother Joel and his wife Caro. Daniel leaves behind the love of his life and his bride of 18 years, Yvonne and his shining star, his daughter, Hannah Emma. Daniel will be sorely missed by his "second family", the Duenez household and the large spiritual family he treasured so dearly.
'Danny' was born on November 17, 1982 to a loving and spiritually firm household in Tijuana, Mexico and later moved to southern California. Growing up Danny had such joy for life and was always cracking jokes. His parents raised him and his three brothers to have a strong foundation of faith and deep respect for his Creator. It was this reverence that helped him dedicate his life to Jehovah and he was baptized March 10, 2001. He regarded that as one of the best decisions he ever made.
Although unaware at the time, a few years later Danny was about to make his next best decision when met his future wife Yvonne. Captivated by his kind heart, tender demeanor and zeal for Jehovah Yvonne fell in love and they were married May 28, 2005. Their life together was full of laughter, love and spending time with family. Danny had an amazing capacity to empathize and reason. Always looking for the silver lining, his friends and family knew they could count on him to help them appreciate the positive in every situation. Gifted with the ability to grasp math and numbers, Danny naturally gravitated towards a career in Drafting and Engineering where he excelled. He was recognized amongst his coworkers for his "hard work ethic and willingness to always help out".
While happy and fulfilled it was not until after his sweet Hannah was born that their family was now complete. Danny treasured his role as husband and father. He loved making memories as a family on road trips and adventures. He was sure to take the time to enjoy long walks with his Mija as they went for strawberry ice cream. Danny was known for his light hearted chuckle and his big grin, but he never smiled brighter than when he was talking about Hannah. Proud to teach his daughter the importance of knowing Jehovah, he took his position as a Spiritual Head seriously. A quality that would serve him greater than he knew.
After Danny was diagnosed with Cancer, rather than letting that be an excuse to take things easy he viewed it as a reason to fight harder. A reason to love stronger. A reason to preach louder. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 41:10 and while at times he was admittedly afraid, he truly believed Jehovah was fortifying him daily. It was this fortification that helped him fight as long could and with all of his might. Always looking for an opportunity to preach, Danny could often be heard speaking of his Creator and the resurrection hope to anyone he could including hospital staff. All who knew Danny knew him as a man with a big heart and a lot of strength, but he was aware of the limitations his body was facing. And when times seemed their most difficult he could hear his father reciting the words of Matthew 6:27, "Who of your by being anxious can add one cubit to his life span?". Danny chose to focus on what he could control: his mind and his emotions and those words calmed his heart.
Daniel Hernandez was a caring son, a thoughtful husband, a loving father, a genuine friend, and a loyal servant of Jehovah. We look forward to the day we will see him again.
