Garrie Clayton Aspengren

Garrie was born on December 29, 1940, in Iowa. At the age of 16, he moved to California, where he would build a life defined by hard work, innovation, devotion to family, and a genuine love for people.

Garrie graduated from Anaheim High School in 1959, where he met his first wife. Their union was blessed with a daughter. On August 7, 1972, Garrie married the love of his life, Hope, beginning a marriage that would span 54 years. Together they created a loving blended family of "his, hers, and ours," raising four sons and building a home centered on faith, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

Throughout his professional career, Garrie worked as a packaging engineer, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues for his creativity, ingenuity, and problem-solving skills. His work eventually brought the family to Modesto, California. One of his most notable achievements was designing packaging for Apple Computer. The packaging was famously shipped around the world and back again to test its durability and effectiveness. The computer returned completely intact, while the packaging remained flawless, a testament to Garrie's engineering excellence. His inventive spirit and knack for solving problems earned him the affectionate nickname "Gadget Garrie."

While he was proud of his professional accomplishments, nothing brought Garrie greater joy than his family. He faithfully attended baseball and football games, wrestling matches, dance recitals, and countless other events, always cheering from the sidelines and celebrating the achievements of his children and grandchildren. His presence was a constant source of encouragement, love, and pride.

When he wasn't spending time with family, Garrie could often be found pursuing one of his greatest passions: fly fishing. Whether casting a line into a quiet river or planning his next fishing adventure, he found peace and happiness in the outdoors and treasured every opportunity to fish.

In 2000, Garrie and Hope moved to Murrieta, California, where they could be closer to their growing family. There they enjoyed the blessing of watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, creating treasured memories that will live on for generations.

Garrie will be remembered for his sharp mind, inventive nature, unwavering work ethic, and, above all, his deep love for family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, commitment, and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Hope, his children Biff (Katie), John (Cheryl), Betsy (Skeeter), Casey (Theresa), Ty, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his love and friendship.

Though he will be deeply missed, Garrie's legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the countless memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
