James Warren Anderson was born on March 2nd, 1933 on a rural farm near Hawley, Minnesota. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1951 and from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1955. His first job was teaching on a Native American reservation in Montana. The principal of the school in Montana moved to the San Bernardino area and recruited Jim to come with him, and Jim taught at San Bernardino High School for five years. In 1963 he went to work for the Department of Defense as a teacher on a US Military Base in Turkey, and in 1964 he taught on a base in Japan. Jim came back to the US in 1965 and got a job as a teacher in the Business Division of Fullerton College, where he would work for the next 35 years, including 15 years as Dean of the Division.
Jim was a lover of life! He raised his family in the Lutheran church and was a man of faith. He was well respected as an educator, loved meeting new people and always had a friendly smile for everyone. He worked tirelessly in his garden and his green thumb provided a bounty of beautiful flowers, vegetables and plants. He was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed classical music and the creative arts. He was quick witted, full of humor, and always enjoyed a good laugh from funny birthday cards. He loved traveling and made several trips abroad to Europe, Asia and across the USA many times.
Jim died on May 23rd, 2023, at his home in Murrieta. He will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, sons Lynn and Jim, daughter Kaye, daughters-in-law Kristen and Kim Anh, grandchildren Matthew, Skye and Jayna, sister Maxine, sister-in-law Lorainne and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends all over the US.
