John Hollow Horn Bear, a man of adventure, passion, and an indomitable spirit passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of cherished memories and inspiring stories. He was a proud father to his daughter Haley and beloved son John Jr., lovingly known as JJ.
A Native American and an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Sicangu Lakota, John took great pride in his heritage, which shaped his strength, resilience, and connection to the natural world.
John embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a love for all things fast and free. He traveled through 49 states over the course of his life, finding joy in the open road and, as an adult, often exploring the beauty of the world on his motorcycle. One of the great highlights of his life was working on his race car, pouring his heart and soul into every detail. Whether tuning the engine or racing down the track, his passion for cars reflected his drive for excellence and excitement.
John’s recent trip to Hawaii left a lasting mark on his soul. Swimming with sea turtles and marveling at their grace and serenity became a moment of pure connection with nature, inspiring him and bringing him profound peace. It was an experience that embodied his love for adventure and the wonders of the world.
John also found deep love and connection within his family. Along with his children, he leaves behind seven sisters, one brother, and countless nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory. His laughter, wisdom, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Though John has taken his final journey, his adventurous spirit and stories of his favorite travel spots will live on. His tales of Hawaii, the open road, and all the places he held dear will be shared with JJ, ensuring he knows and remembers the incredible man his father was. John’s legacy will not be forgotten but carried forward in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Miller-Jones Mortuary, Murrieta, CA on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 11am-3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that earth offerings may be made in his memory to celebrate his deep connection to nature and his Native American heritage, ensuring his spirit continues to inspire and thrive.
John, may the roads ahead be endless, the engines roaring, and the skies forever clear. Ride free and fast, knowing you are loved and remembered always
