Kathleen "Kathi" Marie King

Survived by her Son Scot King, wife Roxanne King, Daughter Nicole McCalmont, husband Bob McCalmont, Grandchildren Derik Fields, Alexa Fields, Christina McCalmont, Alyssa McCalmont, Alina King, Aubrey King and Bryce King, Brother Donald Robino, wife Peggy Robino, niece Maggie and nephew Vinnie.

Kathi was born in San Francisco, California to Peter and Linda Robino; and had one brother, Don.

Kathi grew up in the San Bernardino area and Graduated from Pacific High School in 1962.

She began working at Norton Air Force Base shortly after graduating and worked as a secretary for the Officers on base.

During this time period is when she met Scot and Nicole’s dad, William King. They lived in San Bernardino off of Merito Avenue for a few years and had many family gatherings at their home and many fond childhood memories.

Early in 1973 Kathi and the kids moved up the mountain to Crestline where she raised the kids as a single parent. Kathi sacrificed a lot and provided a wonderful home environment for us all. She always supported our extra curricular activities outside of school, took us on vacations to Pismo Beach, Lake Tahoe, and many trips to her friend Barbara’s house, Nana and Papa’s house for sleepovers and to visit our Uncle in Mission Viejo which has created wonderful lasting memories. We never went without, yet sometimes she did. Through the years she was a friend to many, a cheerleader to all who knew her and went out of her way to please others. Though she was stern and had strong opinions, she loved those around her in her own way and could be generous to a fault on occasion.

After we had graduated high school Kathi soon retired from her position as the Court Clerk in Twin Peaks. She worked for the County of San Bernardino for 23 years and retired in 1996 when she moved off the mountain and down to Fontana to help take care of her mom “Nana” and lived there for close to 30 years in the home where we shared so many wonderful family gatherings.

She LOVED to play card games, the aggravation board game Papa had made and to just enjoy time with friends and family.

As our family grew and Nicole had children, this became the focus of Kathi’s life. Her first grandchild Derik was born on the same day as mom and they have always shared a special bond. Alexa was next and was the first girl that could be spoiled by Grammi, and she was! Scot FINALLY got married and started his family and with his children Alina, Aubrey and Bryce Grammi was able to be a part of their lives as well, attending school music shows, sporting events and even helping out babysitting the cat “Leaf” on occasion. The joy that all these grandchildren brought to her life was immeasurable and filled her heart with love.

We are truly grateful for all the Love and support she provided to all who knew her and loved her.

She will leave a void in our hearts that will be filled only when we are reunited in heaven.
