August 21, 1942 – June 7, 2026
Mike Robinson, beloved Christ-follower, husband, dad, grandpa, boss, friend and leader, slipped into glory on Sunday, June 7, 2026 in Murrieta, California, at the age of 83.
Born on August 21, 1942 in Long Beach, California, Mike was the oldest child of Norman Wilbur Robinson and Thelma Luberta Harvey Robinson. He grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and love for his family, becoming the protective older brother to Richard and Thomas.
He married the love of his life, Linda Ballard Robinson on June 23, 1963 after proposing to her at a drive-in movie showing of Ben Hur. Mike’s celebration of life service will be held on their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Mike and Linda have three children, Sharon Brodie (Shaun), Dave Robinson (Lori) and Steve Robinson (Deborah), six grandchildren: Sarah, Tyler, Aaron, Daniel, Eric and Mackenzie, and five great grandchildren: Oliver, Liam, Willow, Owen and Colton. Mike began his career working as a sports photographer for the Anaheim Bulletin and covered the very first game of the Los Angeles Angels vs. the Minnesota Twins at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. He also remembers watching the ticker tape at the Bulletin as it reported the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He was the first in the building to report this tragedy.
Later, Mike went to work for his dad, Norman and grandfather, Joseph, at Robinson Printing in Long Beach. At age 27, Mike’s dad passed away and later, the same day, Joseph passed away.
Mike persevered through some terrible days of grief and hardship by leaning on His Saviour Jesus.
Eventually, Mike’s sons Dave and Steve joined him at Robinson Printing, and they grew the company focusing on specialized, technical printing for the medical industry. He worked five days per week, until he turned 75, and mentored and supported many employees through his decades of leadership. It was in this setting, Mike was often heard saying, “We’re heading in the right direction.” A testament to his forward-thinking vision and desire to constantly improve himself, his coworkers, and his company.
Through the years Mike and Linda enjoyed investing in their grandkids’ lives. They also loved home remodeling, off-roading in the desert, and trips to Hawaii. But their favorite thing to do was to visit Israel and walk where Jesus walked. They did this 4 times together and Mike went one additional time with his church’s leadership team and even visited Petra, Jordan.
Mike loved to study God’s Word and spent hours preparing Bible studies. While preparing, he developed the habit of listening to The Ten Commandments and the Ben Hur movies. He surely watched them thousands of times through the years. And through his careful study he took great joy in pointing out the intricacies of Scripture.
Besides his relationship with Jesus, Mike’s greatest love truly was his wife Linda. They were rarely apart and an amazing example to all who knew him on how to love your wife as Christ loved the church – sacrificially, wholly and completely.
Mike’s life verse was Matthew 6:33. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” As Mike has stepped into Heaven, surely “all these things” have been added to him as he sits at the feet of His Heavenly Father!
