Alice Gayle (Widner) Donahue

Alice Gayle Widner Donahue was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on August 14, 1954 to the late Margaret Alice Buckner Widner and Martin Cecil Widner. She passed away on August 12, 2019 surrounded by her family in San Antonio, Texas.

Gayle lived her young life in Nacogdoches and grew up in a family that were active members of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church. After graduating from Nacogdoches High School she moved on to pursue her career with the airlines. She worked for Braniff and Continental Airlines in Dallas and Houston. She retired from Continental Airlines after 34 years of service.

She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Donahue, of 25 years of marriage, daughter Melyssa Kathryn Donahue of San Antonio, and son Joshua Adam Hunt, from her first marriage to Johnny Hunt, of Houston. Other survivors include Terry’s children, Patrick Donahue & wife, Raquel, Christine Donahue Martinez & husband Anthony, Erin Donahue, all of Houston. Grandchildren, Camila, Christopher and Tristan.

Also surviving are brothers, Larry Widner & wife Susan, Danny Widner & wife Beverly; niece and nephews Darlene Widner, Darrell Widner & wife Kendall, and Philip Widner; great nephew & nieces Landon, Karson & Aubrie Widner.

Gayle’s greatest pleasures were her family, her home, traveling to Hawaii with Terry, and her pets, Lola, Tucker and Tiffany.

Throughout her life, Gayle formed many loving and long lasting friendships. She brought joy and laughter to many lives and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held, 10:00AM, Thursday, August 22, 2019, Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. A reception will immediately follow the interment in the gymnasium at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the SPCA of Texas in Gayle's name.
