Alice Marie James

Alice Marie (Dill) James passed away on July 13, 2025, at her home in Nacogdoches County. She was born on August 8, 1938, in Timpson to J.W. and Rita (Wilkerson) Dill and attained the age of 86 years.

Alice graduated from high school and then spent her lifetime working in Hospitality. Since she loved to cook and to serve others, this fit her so wonderfully.

She is survived by her brothers, James Ray Dill and Jimmy Edward Dill; sisters, Linda Lee Leger, Christine Sheppeard, and Doris Hogue; nieces, Lisa Dill, Kristi Buelow, Robin Buelow; and nephews, Charles Ray Dill and Steve Paul Buelow. Her extended family includes numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.W. Dill and Rita Broxson; sister, Gloria Faye Roy, sister-in-law, Karen Dill, nieces and nephews, William Brian Buelow, Gloria Jean Burkhalter, Rita Jo Leger and Jamie Marie Dill, and Michael Wayne Roy.

Alice loved spending time with her big and loving family—she treasured times of holding all the grandbabies and great grandbabies. Her hobby was gambling. She so enjoyed her trips to Louisiana and Las Vegas.

The family will be planning a future Celebration of Life for Alice, in the family cemetery.
