Alma Jean Chumley

Alma Jean (Whitaker) Chumley passed away March 6, 2021, at her home in Douglass at the age of 86 with her family by her bedside. She was born January 8, 1935. “Maw Maw Jean” lived most of her life in Douglass and treasured time spent with family and friends.

Mrs. Chumley was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Henry “Jack” Chumley; parents, Edgar and Maxine Whitaker; grandson, Adam Chumley; and son-in-law, Dean McClelland.

Survivors include her children, J. Carolyn Thomas and husband Scott, Rhonda McClelland, Jackie Chumley and wife Missy, and Eddie Chumley and wife Jill; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy Whitaker.

Maw Maw will be laid to rest by Paw Paw at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Douglass Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Chumley, Eddie Chumley, Brandon Chumley, Jacob Chumley, Taylor Chumley, Matthew McClelland, Scott Thomas, and Joshua Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Douglass Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
