

Annie Mary Barclay of Nacogdoches passed away December 10, 2020, at her home at the age of 94. She was born September 10, 1926, in Nacogdoches to parents Elisha James Tindall and Jennie May (Partin) Tindall.
Annie was raised on a dairy farm, around cattle her whole life. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in the late 1940s. She then moved to Houston in 1950 to work for Southwestern Bell where she met her late husband, James Barclay. They were married on April 14, 1950. They lived in Houston until his retirement in 1977 when they moved back to Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Barclay spent her time as a homemaker taking care of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling. When she was able, she attended Lilly Grove Baptist Church. She was a quiet, caring, and proper woman. The daughter of a Deacon, she never drank a sip of liquor in her life.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Barclay, Sr.; sister, Verna Tindall; and son, Jay Barclay.
She is survived by her son, James Barclay, Jr. and wife Anna; grandsons, Emmanuel Gomez and wife Anna, James Barclay, III, and Richard Barclay and wife Mary; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Caple, Bill Love, Emmanuel Gomez, Richard Barclay, Clifton Baker, and James Barclay, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Evans and Danny English.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Texas Home Health Hospice.
