Betty Sue Parrish

Services for Betty Sue Fryman Parrish, 77, of Nacogdoches County will be held 2:00 pm Friday, Nov. 14, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches. Chaplain Bob Harbuck of Heart to Heart Hospice will be officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Enterprise. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Jacob McGinnis. Honorary Pallbearer will be grandson, Captain Michael Hannah who is stationed in Afghanistan. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm Thursday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home.

Betty was born in Rusk County, Texas on February 15, 1937 to parents William Curtis and Lunner Geneva Fryman. Mrs. Parrish died Nov. 11, 2014, at a Garrison nursing home.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; four brothers and three infant siblings.

She is survived by her family, James Roy Parrish and wife Kathy, Charmayne Rountree and husband Alan, Jacki Rodrigues and husband Donald, Robert A. “Bob” Parrish and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Captain Michael Hannah and wife Captain Allison Hannah, James Ryan Parrish and wife Jessica, Alan Trent Parrish and wife Melissa, Scott Rountree and wife Jessica, Allison Brook Rountree, Chelesa Nicole Rountree, Chris Rodrigues, Matt Rodrigues, Grant Parrish; nine great grandchildren; brother; Ray Fryman and wife Billie Jean; sisters, Geneva Geniece Perry and husband John Ben, Barbara Grammar; multiple nieces; nephews and fellow cowboy fans.

Many things could be said about Betty but most of all she loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Before retirement she worked as an O.R Technician at Memorial Hospital and everybody loved her. She was often picked on because she was so short, infact her grandkids outgrew her by the time they were in 4th grade! Betty could be found in her flower garden, frying chicken, fishing, but when it was game time she would be found watching the Cowboy Football Game. She was an avid collector of Cowboy memorabilia and knew all of the details about the team members. She loved sports, John Wayne, Gene Autrey, and Walt Disney movies. She was a devoted Christian and affectionately known to her family as “Mam-maw” and will be greatly missed by those who knew her most.
