Brad was a life-long resident of the Douglass community, but briefly attended the public schools of Rusk ISD, Wortham ISD, and graduated in 1992 from Bullard ISD, where his mother served as superintendent of schools. Brad was raised in a multi-generational farming family which owned and operated dairy and poultry farms. He continued this line of work into adulthood after earning his bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1996. He and his son J.T. traveled many miles and formed many lasting friendships across the state showing livestock. Brad loved to hunt, fish, and raise show cattle, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Brad is survived by his wife Jenny McCormack Lowery, son J.T. Lowery and wife Bailey, his father Neil Lowery, brother Mike Lowery and wife Pam, brother David Lowery and wife Sonia, nephews, Clint Lowery and wife BreAnn, Matthew Lowery, Garrett Lowery, niece Sarah Lowery, step-daughters Julie Anne Stanaland, Miranda Ellison, Hannah Scoggin, step-sons Owen Stanaland and Tyler Simpson, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. Loyal and trusted friends, Mario Salvador Arroyo and Domitila Tolentino also survive him. Brad was beyond thrilled to be Big Papa to baby Lucas Van Lowery, expected in February of 2022.
Brad is preceded in death by his cherished mother Sandra Lynn Tillman Lowery.
Brad was a gentle giant of a man with a heart of gold who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He took much joy in helping kids in the livestock show circuit and he will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him. Brad’s nephews and niece absolutely adored their Uncle Brad and he was an excellent mentor to them and so many of their friends.
The family will receive friends, Monday, October 4, 2021, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held, 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the pavilion at Douglass Cemetery.
