Mr. Pinkston was born December 2, 1942. He passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, in Nacogdoches.
Bryan was born in Buna, Texas and moved around, with his family, until settling in Chireno, Texas in 1954. He attended school in Chireno from 7th grade until he graduated from high school in 1961.
After graduating, he worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, with his dad, and eventually went on to work at Nibco of Texas. Later, he went to work for Pilgrims Pride, where he worked for 28 years in the maintenance department until retiring in 2008.
Bryan went to school with his wife, Joyce Ann Ray, from 7th grade until they graduated together. They were the best of friends and used to play Tic-Tac-Toe on the blackboard.
On May 1st, 1971, Bryan and Joyce were married at Ratclift Church of Christ. Joyce brought two children, Allen (8) and Jennifer (6) into the happy union. Years later, they added two adopted children, Donny and Teri.
"Daddy raised us kids as though he was our biological father. He really was the best dad any kid could hope for. We were so lucky to have him, whether we knew it or not. Someone once said to me, 'How's your step-dad?' I didn't answer, not realizing they were speaking to me. Never have I considered him to be a step-anything. He was my daddy, the only one I ever knew, who I will love and miss dearly, until I see him again in Heaven." - Jennifer
In his free time, Bryan enjoyed playing games, board games, card games, and 42, a Ray family favorite. Joyce, also a game lover, said she should have known he'd be a good "catch" since they played games on the chalk board together in school. He also loved working with wood and was so talented and creative. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. His wisdom surpassed that of books; he learned from hands-on experience.
Bryan is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, who he celebrated 47 years with on May 1st; daughters: Jennifer Evans and husband Larry of Monument, CO and Teri Pinkston of Nacogdoches; son: Donny Pinkston of Oregon; grandchildren: Laremy Evans, MacKenzie Evans, Delaney Evans, Kayah Dumas, and Shelbi Dumas; 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen Pinkston; brother, Frankie Pinkston; and son, Allen Dale Murray.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas.
