

Carolyn Ann Dean Patterson was born April 5, 1944 in Center, Texas in Shelby County to L. D. and Velma Dean. She married her sweetheart of 55 years, Ellis “Buddy” Patterson on June 1, 1962. She went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper over several years. She worked for Wayne Hunt, Danny Powell Construction, NIBCO, and Mike Liebrum Realty. She operated Carolyn’s Kids Daycare for many years. She was a gifted Sunday School teacher throughout the years, bringing the Bible to life for hundreds of children. Carolyn and Buddy served as youth pastors for many years and also pastored New Life Christian Fellowship for over 20 years.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was dedicated to helping others who needed a meal, a drive to an appointment, or someone to talk to. She loved her Creator and spoke of Him often to others. Carolyn was a gifted seamstress and cook. She enjoyed hosting family and friends in her home. She loved fishing, traveling, and spending time with Buddy and her girls and their families.
She is survived by her daughters, Angelia Morton and husband Dale of Nacogdoches and Deana Sheppard and husband Drew of Tyler. She was MeMe to her grandchildren, Brett Morton and wife Amie of Tyler, Brittany Morton Gruenwald and husband Stephen of Tyler, Kaylin Sheppard Moore and husband Colby of Lindale, and Liam Sheppard of Tyler, and great grandchildren, Addison, Emma, and Miles Morton of Tyler, Ethan and Alec Gruenwald of Tyler, and Willow Moore of Lindale. Also, companion, Danny Haltom and numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Patterson, her parents, and siblings, Joyce Dean and Robert Earl Dean.
The Patterson family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and love to their extended family at Meadow Lake Senior Living, Visiting Angels, and Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler. Thank you for loving and caring for our mother so well.
Pallbearers are Dale Morton, Drew Sheppard, Brett Morton, Stephen Gruenwald, Colby Moore, Liam Sheppard, Gregg Nichols, Frankie Hamby, and Mike Liebrum.
There will be a private burial at Sunset Memorial Park followed by a memorial service on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Christian Fellowship of Nacogdoches, 4111 East Starr Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Christian Fellowship, 289 CR 2093, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965 and Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler, 7925 South Broadway Ave., #1140, Tyler, Texas 75703.
