

Charles Oren Brightwell was born April 8, 1935 to Walter J Brightwell and Beatrice Irene Nixon Brightwell in Henderson, Texas. He was the thirteenth of fourteen children. Throughout his school years he was known to many as “Peevine.” He graduated from Henderson High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He then attended Stephen F. Austin State University, which led him to be a long time resident of Nacogdoches. He passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at the age of 90.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and many brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter Molly Bobo and husband Lance; step-daughter Kelley Greer Morris; grandchildren, Courtney Bobo Rothenberger and husband, Fischer; Andrew Bobo, Landrey Bobo, Emily Ford and husband, Parker, Russell Wright, Stacey Koffskey, Hannah Reyna, and Brian Wright. Great grandchildren, Blakelyn Rothenberger, Cayson Rothenberger, Cole Rothenberger, Maddie Wright, Ava, CJ, and Luke Koffskey, Waylon and Wyatt Reyna, Logan and Haiden Wright.
He loved animals, especially dogs. He passed his time researching genealogy and gardening. Babies and dogs could always bring a smile to his face.
Graveside Services for Mr. Brightwell will be Monday, March 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial in Nacogdoches, Texas.
