Christine Champion McKinney, of Odem, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday March 14, 2024. There will be a family visitation on Tuesday, March 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by the memorial service 11:00 a.m at Cason Monk- Metcalf Funeral Directors located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches Texas. Burial will follow at Sacul Cemetery in Sacul, Texas.
Christine was born at Sacul, Nacogdoches County, Texas on October 17, 1933, to Lester and Etha Belle Champion.
She was a member of the Class of 1951, Nacogdoches High School and a member of the Parkside Church of God in Corpus Christi, Texas.
On July 28, 1951, Christine married her high school sweetheart, Roger McKinney.
Family was always first. She loved family reunions which happened every time her kids and grandkids came over for dinner. She enjoyed vacationing to the Frio River with family and touring the country with their travel trailer and on their Honda Aspencade motorcycle.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her parents and her half-brother Bill.
She is survived by her two children; a son, Mitchell “Butch” McKinney, and a daughter, LaRue (Ralph) Stephens, both of Odem, Texas; three grandchildren, Lori (James) Sisson, Rory (Sarah) Stephens, and Casey (Bobbie) Kite; and four great-grandchildren, Christine Grace Sisson, James Garret Sisson, Roger Glenn Stephens, and Rigdon Dale Stephens.
Pallbearers will be Rory Stephens, James Sisson, Larry Parrie, Rodney Henderson, Garret Sisson, and Kason Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Williams, Edward King, Bobby King, Roger Glenn Stephens, and Rigdon Stephens.
