Donald Edward McCarley of Nacogdoches passed away February 12, 2021, in Nacogdoches at the age of 82. He was born September 2, 1938, in Beaumont to parents Louis Nelson McCarley and Mary Lima (Johnson) McCarley.

Don graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. He was a 22-year veteran with The United States Air Force. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches. He was a 4th Degree Knight with The Knights of Columbus. He was also a long-serving member of the Board of Directors for Heartbeat Pregnancy Center. Don’s hobbies included woodworking and gardening.

Mr. McCarley was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Louis Lively and Jimmie Mae McCarley; maternal grandparents, Willie and Winnie Johnson; and brothers, John McCarley, Ronnie McCarley, and Gary McCarley.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice McCarley of Nacogdoches; sons, Steven McCarley of Ramah, New Mexico, David McCarley of Las Vegas, Nevada, Donnie McCarley and wife Kim of Huffman, Texas, Jason McCarley and wife Angel of Columbia Falls, Montana; daughter, Kelly McCarley of Longview, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Louise McBroom of Sabine County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by The Reverend Monsignor James E. Young. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven McCarley, David McCarley, Donnie McCarley, Jason McCarley, Neal Slaten, Jeremy Higgins, John Tolson, Greg Dinan, Eddie Ironsmith, and Charlie Muckleroy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Heartbeat Pregnancy Center, 619 Russell Blvd., Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
