Dorothy worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for forty years. Upon her retirement, she returned home to Etoile with her husband George Felix in 1982.

Dorothy was a strong and vibrant woman. She loved to cook great food, work in her garden, watch baseball, and play cards and dominoes with her many friends. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room, and she never lacked for energy.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jeanne Koonce, grandson David Koonce and his wife Portia, grandson Todd Koonce and his wife Amanda, brother Jim Grimes and his wife Jean, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George Felix Koonce, son Larry Koonce, brothers Douglas and Herman Grimes, and sister Catherine Kay.
