

She was born June 28, 1929, to Harland and Ruth Burnaman. She was raised in the Shady Grove community.
She attended the Nacogdoches schools and graduated from Stephen F. Austin College with a business degree. She taught at Garrison High School and Big Sandy High School on the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation. She also worked for Dr. C.C. Young, DVM, Anderson Grain as bookkeeper, and Sherwin-Williams as bookkeeper. After 36 years, she retired on September 7, 2013, from Sherwin-Williams. She was a member of North Street Church of Christ.
She married Robert Stanaland on February 16, 1962, and they were married for 51 years before his death on November 27, 2013.
She is survived by children, Terry Stanaland and wife Tammy, Elizabeth Channel and husband Larry, Melinda Stanaland, and Bobby Stanaland and wife Daphne, all of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Ettie, as her grandchildren called her, is survived by Steven Stanaland, Melissa Skelton, Michael Kressin, Misty Kressin, Rebecca Dillon, Jacob Dillon, David Burkhalter, Nathan Burkhalter, Shelby Stanaland, and Kaelyn Stanaland; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Sue is also survived by sisters Harlene Muckleroy of Center, Texas, Lillie Ross of El Paso, Texas, and Helen Brown of Nacogdoches, Texas; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Sue was preceded in death by parents, Harland and Ruth Burnaman; husband, Robert Stanaland; and brother, Fred Tucker Burnaman.
Pall bearers will be Fred Taylor Burnaman, Ken Muckleroy, Fred Yanoush, Rusty Brown, Nathan Burkhalter, Jacob Dillon, and Scott Coyle.
Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Minister Bill Sherrill officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Hospice of East Texas, American Cancer Society, or The Harvest House.
