Leon graduated from Jacksonville High School. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in The United States Army and The United States Navy. He married his wife Sharon on April 29, 1967, in Houston. He worked as an electrician in the refineries of Port Arthur before retiring to Nacogdoches in the mid-2000’s.
Mr. Baker loved to talk and never met a stranger. He loved being outdoors in the Hill Country enjoying the wildlife and nature. Some of his other hobbies were fishing, hunting, and football. He and Sharon attended Westside Baptist Church.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Baker; son, Steven Baker; daughter, Kelly Neel and husband Glenn; brother, Kenneth Baker and wife Joyce; sister, Lorene Berry and husband Wayne; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
