Elwood Grant "Pete" Kramer

Pete was born June 17, 1935 in Nutley, New Jersey, to parents Donald Kramer and Pearl (Murray) Kramer and had lived in Nacogdoches since 1973.

Pete was a dedicated veteran of The United States Air Force in which he proudly served for over 20 years. After retiring from the military and moving to Texas (he proudly called himself a “Texan by choice, not chance”), Pete graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Business. He then made his mark on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Security Officer (where he found a captive audience for his jokes) from which he retired in 2002.

Pete loved golf, margaritas, the USA, jokes (clean, dirty, appropriate and/or inappropriate) and baseball, to name a few. But most of all, he loved his family and was most proud to be a dad, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. Today he is dancing with his beloved wife in heaven.

Pete is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara (Kramer) and Tim Robison of Huntsville, Laurie Kramer of Nacogdoches, and Jodie (Kramer) and Casey Eakin of Humble; a brother, Richard Kramer of Virginia; grandchildren, Bobbie (Kramer) and Jarrod Hamblen, Donny Kramer and Amy, Bradley Robison, and Chase Eakin; and great-grandchildren, Riley Hamblen, Lilly Kramer, and Mason Kramer.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean (Scranton) Kramer.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Rev. Jim Welch of Kingwood officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in Pete’s name to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or to the American Heart Association.
